Trillium Curling Camp 2012

December 2011 / January 2012.

Welcome to the information page on the 2012 Dominion Trillium Curling Camp.

We are pleased to have the Dominion Insurance Company of Canada on board as our main sponsor again this year. Their involvement will ensure that we offer the best possible camp to the young curlers of Ontario at the most reasonable cost possible. Thank you, Dominion.

The twentieth annual Dominion Trillium Curling Camp will operate for two weeks, again this summer in Guelph, Ontario. The dates are August 12-17 and August 19-24. Each camp will accommodate 96 curlers aged 13-19 who have at least two years of curling experience. They will be placed in one of three categories - intermediate (13-15 years old), advanced (15-17 years old) or high performance (16-19 years old), based on their age and their competitive and coaching experience. There is no novice division for new curlers at this camp.

We will stay at the University of Guelph, with all of our meals, curling and coaching being provided at the Guelph Curling Club.

Last year's campers and those on last year's wait list will be mailed a brochure and registration form by January 5, 2012. The registration form should be completed and returned immediately to the camp address. Spots for the first mailing list group will be held until January 18 only. Be aware that there are more people on this mailing list than there are spots in the camp. This is due to the large wait list from last year and these people are included in this mailing.

In mid-January, the same brochure and registration form will be mailed to curling clubs in Southern Ontario. Openings that exist after January 18 will be filled by "new" registrants, according to the date they are received in the Trillium Camp office. (This is not the OCA office, but rather the post office box address printed on the registration form). You are advised to send all applications by regular mail or priority post. Do not use a courier company, as they often will not deliver to a post office box number.

This camp fills quickly for both weeks. We expect to be completely full with a wait list well before the end of January. Please return the completed application form with the cheque for the full amount as soon as you have completed the forms. Cheques can be post-dated to February 1, 2012 if this is more convenient for parents. Post-dating cheques will not impact on your chances of getting into the camp.

The Ontario Curling Association has set the cost this year at $790.00 plus HST which brings to total to $892.00. The inclusion of the HST is responsible for the cost increase. Dominion’s involvement has allowed us to keep the actual camp cost low. Meals, accommodation, coaching, ice time, camp picture, shirt, daily bus travel and extra-curricular activities (swimming, bowling, pool hall, a dance and other fun, evening activities) are also all included in this cost. Campers are not allowed to drive personal cars during their stay at the camp.

You will be working with the best coaches in Ontario and from all across Canada. Many of them have been with us for several years and they are a major part of making this camp such a wonderful experience for the young curlers. Guest presenters in the past have included Russ Howard, Wayne Middaugh, Marilyn Bodogh, Glenn Howard, Ian Tetley, Neil Harrison, Lindsay Sparkes, Sherry Middaugh, Paul Savage, Brent Laing, Anne Merklinger, Olympic Gold Medalists Brad Gushue, Mark Nichols, our Junior Men’s and Women’s Champions from last year, and our 2011 Men’s and Women’s Canadian University Champions. All of these Ontario Junior and Canadian University Champions are graduates of the Trillium and Amethyst camps.

There is no pre-registration for the camp. There is no registration by phone or fax or e-mail. The forms and cheques (can be post-dated to February 1, 2012 if you wish) must be received to be included. The cheques will not be deposited until after February 1, 2012. A registration form will be available on this website on January 18. If used, it must be printed off, completed and returned by mail or Priority Post to the camp office.

Please read the Privacy of Information policy on the OCA website www.ontcurl.com By signing the registration form, you are giving permission for the OCA and Performax Coaching, Inc to use the camp information gathered and pictures taken at the camp, as outlined in the policy and on our websites.

Please feel free to direct any inquiries about the camp to the Camp Director at the addresses, below. Thank you for considering the Trillium Curling Camp.
