These precautions can be taken to limit the spread of the new H1N1 influenza virus!

1. Wash your hands often using warm water and pump soap. Ensure hands are

   washed:

After coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose;

After shaking hands;

Before eating;

Before putting in contact lenses; and

Before touching your eyes or nose.

2. Cleanse your hands often using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

3. Avoid touching your face as much as possible.

4. Cough and sneeze into a tissue or your elbow. Throw out used tissues right

away.

5. Do not share objects that have been in other people’s mouths, such as cups, glasses, toothbrushes, soft drinks, water bottles, unwashed utensils and lip products.

6. Stay home if you feel sick. People who have symptoms of influenza should stay home until their fever is gone and they are feeling better. This will help limit the spread of infection in the community.

At the camp, we will ensure:

  1. that frequently  touched commonly used surfaces such as  doorknobs, countertops, table tops, lockers, light switches etc. are sanitized throught each day.
  2. the campers will be reminded daily of the above listed precautions
  3. that hand sanitizer will be available at all times for the campers –at the curling club and at the university.
  4. that everyone eating at the club will use hand sanitizer before all meals
  5. that we have isolation rooms available should anyone exhibit flu symptoms
  6. that we call home to have anyone who is sick, picked up by the parents.
